Our Project
We offer a variety of healing practices and cultural opportunities. We want to create a space that combines our orthodox, occidental and traditional backgrounds, and offers the modern man a more holistic and synergetic approach to healing. Commonly and unfortunately, many don't or aren't able to cultivate a spiritual relationship whether it is because their lives are too busy or they resist religion and all associated practices. Our aim is to reconnect people with their spiritual selves not by preaching our faith or our knowledge but by living truthfully all those teachings that matter most to us.

Our Story
Remi and Ashley, the co-founders of Kumankaya, met in June 2016 in the Amazon jungle of Iquitos, Perú. During the full moon, summer solstice of 2017, they were spiritually married and began a new path together. In a quest to live the synthesis between their faith and healing practices, they bought 25-acres of pristine Mayan jungle in Quintana Roo, Mexico where they built Kumankaya.
The Team

Remi Delaune
FOUNDER & MEDICINE PRACTITIONER
Remi grew up in the south of France. He decided to take monastic vows at the age of 17, where he stayed for almost 20 years, spending time as a monk and eventually becoming the monastery’s abbot. In his mid 30s, he decided to leave the monastery, not by a conflict of faith, but because he wanted to go into the world to help people. Remi became interested in plant medicine and decided to study for 3 years under Maestro Ricardo Amaringo. Because of health reasons, he completed 2 years of apprenticeship. In 2016, Remi met his wife, Ashley, at the same retreat center in Peru, and in 2018 they founded Kumankaya Healing Center. When synthesizing his monastic life with his life now, Remi always says: “the end is the same; only the means have changed.”

Ashley Delaune
FOUNDER & MEDICINE PRACTITIONER
Ashley grew up in Illinois, USA. She has her Masters degree in World Literature and her PhD in 20th century British and American Literature, specializing in trauma theory. She localized her studies on PTSD, specifically combat trauma. What she wanted to understand was how veterans communicated their experiences and spiritual crises through figurative language. In essence, how an individual uses symbology when experiencing a trauma that eludes expression. Little did she know, these studies would inform her present practice with the medicine and help people process through and heal their trauma. Ashley has been working with the medicine for a decade now and has been apprenticing since 2021. Alongside her husband, Ashley owns Kumankaya Healing Center.
